
Forumdoc.bh is dedicated to show, discuss and estimulate audiovisual production on a documentary focus. On its eleven editions, year by year, it screened almost two thousand films, with an estimated public of 70 thousand people. It is organized by Filmes de Quintal, with the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerias as a partner. The festival's activities happens, mostly, at Humberto Mauro cinema, at Palácio das Artes. During its history, the festival has screened thematic or retrospective film shows, dedicated to very important national and international film makers such as Jean Rouch, Pedro Costa, John Marshall, Àgnes Varda, Jean-Louis Comolli, Timothy Ash, Chantal Akerman, Zacharias Kunuk, Glauber Rocha, Joaquim Pedro de Andrade, Leon Hirszman, Eduardo Coutinho, Arthur Omar, Andrea Tonacci e Eduardo Escorel, besides collective projects, such as Video nas Aldeias.
On forumdoc.bh.2008, he already have programmed a melanesian film show, featuring films produced from the 1970's on, by several filmakers, such as Chris Owen, Bob Connolly and Martin Maden, who have followed very closely the Papua New-Guinea - an island in Oceania, which was colonized by Australia - people's independency process; a Latin-american film show, with breakthrough documentary film work, acknoledging film makers Araya, Tomás Gutierrez Alea, Julio Garcia Espinosa, Fernando Birri, among others; and a Carlos Alberto Prates Corrêa - a film maker from Minas Gerais, who directed the films Cabaré Mineiro (1980) e Crioulo Doido (1971) - retrospective film show.
The national and international competitive film shows, the debate forum and the extension activities - which include screenings on public schools realted to Rede.lê project, besides intirancy on Belo Horizonte's peripherical neighbourhoods and in cities in Minas Gerais' country - complete the programme. Forumdoc.bh's 12th edtion is already supported by Petrobrás Cultural programme and by Fundo Municipal de Incentivo à Cultura (County's Cultural Support Fund), by Fundação de Cultura de Belo Horizonte (Belo Horizonte's Cultural Foundation), besides the Federal Culture Support Law – Lei Rouanet.
