IV Indigenous Filmmaker’s Workshop
forumdoc.bh.2007
The Indigenous Filmmaker’s Workshop Forumdoc bh is pleasured to present Jayara Caxixó and Glaysson Caxixó, who had participated of the Video Workshops of the Intercultural Course for Indigenous Educators of UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais). The workshops of this course are being ministered since 2006 and now they focus in film production made a group of students from the Caxixó, Pataxó and Xacriabá Indigenous tribes.
Last July there was the Caxixó Video Workshop, in the protected area for Indigenous of Zezinho. Gleysson Caxixó and Jacyara Caxixó worked with Djama, the local political boss. It was a deep immersion in a universe almost unknown to the younger Caxixó generation. Djalma shows fragments of a culture that has been through a period of abandonment and of forgetfulness, but now begin to return, in his hermetic words, involved in mysteries. Something that seemed inscrutable is now registered in video: to the heritage of this legacy the capacity to reveal these true “archaeologies” is left.
The Indigenous Filmmaker’s Workshop Forumdoc bh, in its fourth edition, proposes to exchange experiences among several Brazilian indigenous filmmakers and the festival’s public, through the exercise of making a video about somewhere in Belo Horizonte, to be chosen by this activity participants.
