Presentation
Every year in Belo Horizonte a panorama of diversified audiovisual productions from various countries is presented, which includes the exhibition of contemporary and classic films and videos. Carried out in association with the Associação Filmes de Quintal and the Departament of Sociology an Anthropology from the College of Philosophy and Human Sciences at UFMG, the event constitutes a space for discussion of works exploring audiovisual resources in order to build a dialog with social life and cultural diversity.
The forumdoc.bh’s format includes film and video screening, commented by specialists and organizers, as well as debates, workshops, conferences and printed releases on the themes. All activities in the program, freely ofered to general public, aim at stimulating and improving productions in the area.
Film sessions - divided into categories such as Competitive Showcase, Classic Documentary Showcase, Memory of Brazilian Documentary Showcase and Author Retrospective - and other activities take place in Cine Humberto Mauro (at Palacio das Artes), Auditório Sônia Viegas (UFMG campus) and in other places such as streets and square blocks in different parts of the city, thus diversifying its audience and increasing attendance numbers.
Part of the program is extended to the universities, schools and cultural centers that also screen films from the forumdoc.bh collections.
Besides the benefits obtained from cultural incentive laws, the Festival also counts on resources from intitutions that support research and outreach activities, such as CNPq, Fapemig and Fundação Mendes Pimentel.
